There’s something different about a wedding in St. Lucia. It isn’t just the turquoise water or the Pitons rising above the coastline. It’s the feeling of taking the people you love somewhere entirely new and turning your wedding into an experience you all get to share. That’s exactly what Jenna and Tyler wanted.
They loved Florida and could have easily had a beautiful beach wedding there, but they wanted something that felt more intentional and a little less expected. With around 50 of their closest people, they chose St. Lucia for a wedding weekend that felt intimate, effortless, and completely their own.
Make the Destination Part of the Celebration
Rather than waiting until the wedding day to celebrate, Jenna and Tyler started the weekend with a sunset boat tour to the Pitons.
Their closest friends and family gathered on the water, drinks in hand, watching the sun disappear behind the mountains. It was less of a traditional welcome event and more of an introduction to the weekend ahead.
And that’s one of my favorite things about destination weddings: the wedding can begin long before the ceremony.
A welcome dinner, private boat ride, beach day, or group excursion gives everyone time to settle in, connect, and actually enjoy being somewhere new.
Keep It Intimate
With around 50 guests, Jenna and Tyler were able to create a celebration that felt personal without feeling small.
They weren't trying to fit an entire guest list into one evening. They were intentional about bringing the people who mattered most and creating an experience everyone could be part of.
For a destination wedding, a smaller guest list can give you so much freedom — more time together, more flexibility with your venue, and more opportunity to make the weekend feel like yours.
Let the Location Influence the Design
St. Lucia doesn't need much competing with it.
The mountains, lush landscape, ocean, and natural textures already create an incredible backdrop, so your wedding can feel elevated without being overly decorated.
Jenna and Tyler embraced the setting rather than trying to recreate something they could have done at home.
And when the sun went down, they made the reception their own with fire dancers — an unexpected moment that completely shifted the energy of the evening.
